Hot Sittingbourne-based JBS Haulage Contractors has strengthened its fleet by adding a state-of-the-art Volvo FH 540 Globetrotter XL 6×2 tractor unit, responding to the growing demands of its customers.
While the general haulage firm operates trucks from various manufacturers, it chose Volvo for its latest addition due to the exceptional driving performance of the FH and the availability of their top-quality products.
Supplied by Jack Nutley, Truck Sales Executive at MC Truck & Bus, the Volvo FH has already made a remarkable impact.
Jason Whent, Director at JBS Haulage Contractors, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “I’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, and I’ve always been a loyal Volvo fan. Whent further explained that due to the company’s rapid growth, acquiring the necessary vehicles has become a challenge in recent years. However, the Volvo FH was delivered promptly, thanks to the efforts of Jack and the team at MC Truck & Bus, ensuring that JBS Haulage Contractors could meet their operational requirements.
Built on a 4,100mm wheelbase, the new FH is equipped with a powerful D13K Euro-6 Step D diesel engine, generating an impressive 540 horsepower and a maximum torque of 2,600Nm. Its outstanding driving performance is enhanced by Volvo’s renowned automated 12-speed I-Shift gearbox, combined with the innovative I-See predictive cruise control system. This integration not only enhances sustainability but also boosts operational efficiency by actively managing speed and ensuring seamless gearshifts.
The spacious Globetrotter XL cab is thoughtfully designed to provide utmost comfort during long-haul journeys. The FH is fitted with a Drive+ package, which includes adjustable steering wheel with neck tilt, electric air conditioning with a carbon filter, sun, mist, and air quality sensors, tinted glass roof hatch, dual armrests, and leather upholstery.
The interior is further enhanced with a luxurious Living+ package, featuring a reclining bunk with a premium 50mm mattress topper and a state-of-the-art sleeper control panel. Additional amenities include 245 litres of rear cab upper storage, a 33-litre under-bunk mounted fridge, and a microwave.
For an exceptional onboard experience, the Volvo FH is equipped with Volvo’s Media package, offering advanced infotainment features such as DAB radio and a dynamic 12-inch high-resolution instrument cluster complemented by a secondary color information display.

Anticipated to cover approximately 100,000 to 120,000 kilometers annually, the FH Globetrotter XL will primarily be used for general haulage work, delivering and collecting construction materials such as plastic guttering and fascia boards to builders’ merchants across the UK.
