NEWFOUNDLAND CANARY WHARF

Newfoundland: A Remarkable New Icon Arrives in London’s Skyline – 20.05.21

The first inhabitants have moved into Newfoundland, a significant new addition to the Capital’s skyline and a landmark project for Vertus, Canary Wharf Group’s residential rental business.

Horden Cherry Lee (HCL), Newfoundland, is an architectural and engineering masterpiece designed by award-winning London architecture company Horden Cherry Lee (HCL). It is notable by its unique diagrid structural system.

Newfoundland, the UK’s tallest build-to-rent (BtR) plan, is a watershed moment for the sector, which is growing at a rapid pace, as the scheme provides an unrivalled lifestyle experience for tenants across the Capital, as well as some of the best views in the city. Tenants are looking for flats with storage, according to Savills 2021 Q1 BtR market report[1].

“First-class Club Vertus amenities facilities, designed by Johnson Naylor and outfitted by David Phillips, are available to tenants.” Newfoundland has the most unbroken views east, over Canary Wharf and the Docklands, or west, towards the City and the rest of London, to compliment these exceptional rooms. “They are truly incomparable.”

“As the UK’s tallest BtR development, it has been a fantastic opportunity to work on the design of Newfoundland,” says Billie Lee, Director at HCL. It has a one-of-a-kind diagrid or diamond-shaped façade  that frames the building beautifully, stands out amongst the commercial offices of Canary Wharf and earns its place in London’s list of outstanding landmark buildings.”

Newfoundland, which rises 58 stories above the River Thames, has 636 beautiful apartments ranging in size from studios to three bedrooms. The exhibition apartments were furnished by award-winning Angel O’Donnell, while the enormous flat interiors were designed by Johnson Naylor. Light, open-plan living and high-end appliances characterise the apartments. They also have floor-to-ceiling windows and Juliet balconies with breathtaking views that will leave you speechless. The apartments have been outfitted by David Phillips, and occupants have the option of painting the walls to make the space feel more like home.
